13 Jul Germany Approves New Congress Fund
New congress fund is a €10M investment to strengthen Berlin’s event industry
- Congress Fund helps with the acquisition of new events for Berlin
- Events will be supported more by the city in the future
Germany has set-up a €10 million congress fund that will see the city and the visitBerlin Berlin Convention Office attract new events in the areas of digitization, mobility and healthcare.
Through this investment, the German capital’s Convention Office is strengthening Berlin’s position in the tough international competition for conferences, meetings, congresses and trade fairs.
In addition to financial support for event organisers will also be allowed to access state-owned areas for innovative formats at short-notice. Other support measures will include, for example, the Berlin WelcomeCard, the official city ticket for Berlin, for every event participant, or free city dressing, which means large-format advertising space at train stations, airports and other locations in Berlin.
Events eligible for support would need to fall under these requirements:
- Event should last for several days
- At least 50 people take part in the events
- Falls under sustainability criteria
- Event service providers should be based in Berlin
