Hotels

SUSSURRO

When it comes to coastal charm, most resorts in Mozambique let the beautiful ocean views do the heavy lifting, but Sussurro adds a dose of African design and creativity to the mix. Mostly described as a design-led boutique hotel, Sussurro is located on the secluded peninsula known as Nhamabue in southern Mozambique.

The 6 private bungalows are stylishly furnished with local sustainable pieces and about 90 percent of the resort’s energy is renewable. The conscious travel thread runs throughout the property, from the organic food gardens and the use of indigenous super-foods.

To fill your days, there’s plenty of fun activities to choose from, such as paddle-boarding, dhow safaris, yoga and weaving workshops

KISIWA HOUSE

Kisiwa House (Kisiwa means ‘island’ in Swahili) is a luxury boutique hotel located on a quiet street in the heart of Zanzibar’s historical Stone Town. The house was originally built as a family home by a wealthy Omani merchant, so a profound sense of history is found in the furniture, antiques and original photographs hanging on the walls. The 11 rooms are super-spacious and decorated in Swahili style, with a touch of romance that makes it ideal for honeymooners or couples looking for something special.

AMANI BOUTIQUE HOTEL

Set on Paje Beach, one of the finest beaches in Zanzibar, Amani Boutique Hotel is all about laid-back luxury. The 14 rooms are individually and thoughtfully decorated in light and airy colours, all with private balconies made for relaxing and soaking up the magnificent views.

Paje Beach is known for its tranquil atmosphere, so those happy to ‘beach and chill’ will feel right at home. If you’re in the mood for adventure, the weather conditions are usually perfect for kitesurfing, and scuba diving or you could head to Zanzibar’s atmospheric capital Stone Town. Just don’t forget your camera.

EXPLORE THE PROMENADE ON AN UP CYCLE BIKE

What better way to explore Cape Town than on a bicycle? Up Cycles is the city’s only drop- and-go bicycle rental company. The bikes offer a fantastic and fun alternative to exploring
the seaside suburb. On offer are cruiser-style Dutch bicycles, which can be adjusted for children and carriages added on for toddlers (helmets and locks included). The drop-and-go stations are spread out along the coast, which means you don’t have to return all the way to the office after your ride. We think a bicycle ride with Up Cycles should be on everybody travel bucket list!
